Dataset description

Area-wide demarcation and differentiation of naturally flooding areas in Flanders. The demarcation of the NOG is equivalent to alluvial lands, peatlands and polder soils as they were converted on the soil map of Belgium in the period 1947-1973, published on a scale of 1:20,000. The nature of the flood (from watercourses or from the sea) determines the differentiation. Demarcation and differentiation of NOG in areas that have not been mapped in soils has been added on the basis of expert interpretation. Soils resulting from colluvation are also included in NOG stock.
