‘Nature experience on the road’ gives an impression of the content of ‘green blue’ in a neighbourhood, seen from the road. This can be used for various purposes. First, you can use them as a citizen to discover the most pleasant route between two points. This way you can plan the greenest (and often healthiest) route to the school for your child. Please note that the card does not take accessibility into account. This can help local governments get an idea of which green spots can best be accessed to complete a green trajectory. This map only makes a statement about the green blue, so not about other factors that can make a route pleasant or unpleasant (traffic pressure, safety, quality of the road surface, beautiful buildings,...). The map shows the percentage of green blue (high green, low green, agriculture and water) in a radius of 20 meters around a road. The green blue around the road is, as it were, assigned to the road itself. In this way, the map gives an indication of the green blue experience at each location located on a road in Flanders. The analysis is made using the Flanders Green Map (for high green, low green and agriculture), the Large Scale Reference File (GRB) for entity Water, and the Road Register. All these geodata layers are available openly via Geopunt. High green, low green, agriculture and water are given the same value. In addition, the calculation does not take into account the layout of the road itself (paved or unpaved).
