Number of dwellings rented through a social real estate agency (AIS)

Social real estate agencies (AIS) are one of the major private operators in the social housing sector in Wallonia. The indicator shows the number of “social assimilated” dwellings rented by an AIS in the territory of the entity. Data available only if the AIS is active. To properly interpret this indicator, you need to know: (1) That this number reflects only a part of the supply of “social” housing in Walloon territory. Other public and private operators also rent housing for similar public. Only dwellings rented through an AIS are counted here. 2° that most of the municipalities are members of an AIS. However, AIS accommodation will not be found in a non-member municipality. 3° Some AIS are mono-communal and others are intercommunal. In the second case, there is not necessarily housing in all the municipalities that are members of the AIS, but it is potentially possible.
