This is the first version of the search zones. These have been made available for information but not (any longer) in use under the Natura 2000 policy (“Conservation Policy”). For this purpose, the Preliminary Search Areas Conservation Goals Natura 2000 Version 2 are in use.
A “search zone” shall indicate perimeter per European habitat to be safeguarded with a view to optimally placing the conservation objectives for the special conservation area in question.
Search zones are part of the guide map in a Natura 2000 management plan according to the legal framework.
However, no Natura 2000 management plans are currently adopted by the Flemish government.
In anticipation of this, preliminary search zones will be used in practice.
The Preliminary Search Areas Conservation Goals Natura 2000 version 2014 were originally published in early 2015.
In September 2015, they were replaced by the Provisional Search Zones Conservation Goals Natura 2000 version 2.
