Quantities of drugs and cash detected by dogs drugs and cash of the Synophile Brigade of the AGD & A

This table gives a description of the quantities of drugs and money detected by dogs specialised in drugs and cash of the canine brigade, by calendar year and by type. Missions: • The dog-masters are responsible for forming teams of dogs (master-dog + dog dog). • Depending on its training and specialisation, the dog will be used to excavate drugs, tobacco products, explosives, weapons, money or titles. • The cynophile team is deployed throughout Belgium under the control of the Customs and Excise Administration and is mainly used as a support service at the request of the inspection and investigation services of the AGD & A, the Federal Police, the local police forces and the SPF Justice. Training: Cynophilic teams regularly receive training in Belgium and abroad. The training programme includes the following aspects: • detection tasks to be performed • personal safety • material training • legislation and procedures Risks and uncertainties: Checks often take place in special places (such as ships, trucks, etc.) and in some cases may pose risks to the owner and the dog: traffic accidents, danger of falling objects, danger of contamination when searching people,...
