Renewable Energy Atlas Flanders — Additional potential heat production from specific biomass streams — technical scenario

This map layer is part of the Renewable EnergieAtlas Flanders. ‘In this technical scenario, the theoretical, technical maximum for the additional production potential for four types of biomass processing facilities is estimated: large-scale agricultural fermenters, pocket fermenters, wood incineration plants and GFT fermenters. Here we start from the available local biomass streams (animal manure, GFT and green waste, bermgras and branch and crown wood) and then look for the maximum number of installations that can occur in specific search zones. A number of criteria are taken into account, such as transport distances and mobilisation factors to be respected. For more background information, please refer to the report. The results are presented here at the level of the municipalities. A number of municipalities bear the label ‘confidential’ in order to guarantee the confidentiality of manure bank data.
