SERVICEFLAT_OVERVICHT City of Antwerp/Team Data The geo-layer shows the exact locations of the groups of assistance housing (GAW) (formerly known as: service flats) weather and can be used in function of the management of the residential and care heritage and spatial analyses in combination with other information: distribution, environmental analyses, accessibility. A group of assistance homes (service flat complex) is a facility consisting of one or more buildings that functionally form a whole. Persons who are in need of care and persons aged 65 or older can stay there independently in individual adapted housing units. They may optionally appeal to elderly care. “Service flats” are another name for assistance homes. Based on a number of characteristics of the flat and the relationship with care options, such flats are or may not be recognised as an ‘assistance home’ by the Flemish community. Residents of both recognised and unrecognised assistance homes can rely on basic care offerings that are provided near the home. Most of the assistance homes are rented flats; a minority of assistance homes are flats. The distinction is not visible in this geo-layer. The inventory was carried out on the basis of the data of the Agency for Care and Health, supplemented by data from Zorgbedrijf Antwerpen and the umbrella associations residential elderly care Zorgnet Icuroen VLOZO (Flemish Independent Care Network).
