For the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, childcare facilities authorised by the ONE may be subsidised or not (depending on a set of criteria). In subsidised care settings, the financial contribution of parents is fixed on the basis of a grid (‘barems’) which is dependent on the income of the parents. Non-subsidised foster homes freely determine the financial participation of parents (whether or not they take into account their financial possibilities. The number and share of subsidised reception places in the entity’s total places give a nuance to the total number of places available in the entity.
