Dataset description

Commissioned by the Agency for Nature and Forests (ANB), Green Policy Unit, the Geographic Information Agency (AGIV) carried out a classification of the IKONOS images (2002-2003) to distill useful information for urban green policy. With relatively high accuracy (90 %) it proved possible to map the vegetation all over Flanders. The distinction between “agricultural green” and “urban green” was made on the basis of the Agricultural Parcels of 2002 and 2003. An additional distinction was made within the vegetation between “grass” and “growth” (accuracy 70 %-85 %).
