In 2004, a new soil monitoring programme was developed and approved by the Minister for the Environment and Water, organised on three levels. The monitoring programme is fully in line with the latest requirements of the EC and EEA, good practices in a number of European countries, as well as national legislation adopted later in 2007-2009. (Soil Law and Soil Monitoring Ordinance).
