According to the Croatian Water Act, the flood risk maps for river basin districts were supplemented in 2019. Flood risk maps (lands) provide an overview of the potential adverse consequences of flooding scenarios and show potential adverse effects in areas predetermined by flood hazard maps for the following flood scenarios: high probability floods, medium probability floods (reversible period of 100 years) and low probability floods including artificial floods due to the possible demolition of embankments on large watercourses and the demolition of high dams. Maps are made on a scale of 1:25000 while the main data sources for flood risk mapping are: census of population, households and dwellings in the Republic of Croatia in 2011, Statistical Yearbook 2013, CORINE Land Cover 2018 (digital database on the state and changes of land cover and land use use of the Croatian Agency for Environment and Nature), spatial plans of cities and municipalities, registers of protected areas, environment, natural and cultural assets and other official databases of the Croatian Agency for Environment and Nature, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, Croatian Waters and other institutions. Position data are provided in the Croatian Terestic Reference System 1996 Transvers Merkator projections (HTRS96/TM).
