Environment

The dataset contains tables on environmental data with regional details (Italy) and by territorial breakdown. The data derive from both the ISPRA source and the State Forestry Corps, and also concern the Natura 2000 indicators, which is the main instrument of the European Union’s policy for the conservation of biodiversity. It is an ecological network spread throughout the Union, established under Directive 92-43-EEC Habitats to ensure the long-term maintenance of natural habitats and threatened or rare species of flora and fauna at Community level. The Natura 2000 network consists of Special Conservation Areas (SACs) and the Sites of Community Importance (SCIs), established by Member States in accordance with the Habitats Directive, and also includes Special Protection Areas (SPAs) established under Directive 79-409-EEC Birds.
