Current weather forecasts (point values)

Service for the provision of forecast meteorological forecasts. The service was developed by the Department of Meteorology in cooperation with the Cyprus Institute and with it is available in TXT format, weather forecasts with a time horizon of 5 days. Forecasts are produced with a high resolution (2 km) meteorological model (WRF) which is much more detailed than other systems used until recently in Cyprus and the wider region, through the infrastructure of the project CYTerra, the homonymous supercomputer and the Internet infrastructure of the Institute of Cyprus. Forecast hours refer to World Time (UTC). H Local time = UTC + 2 and for summer hours UTC+ 3 (in addition daylight saving time). Forecasts are renewed twice a day. Running with data 0000 World Time (usually available at 0900 Local Time) and running with data at 1200 World Time (usually available at 2100 local). The system automatically renews the information and there is no distinction in the station nomenclature. The forecasts relate to the following parameters: date and time [Time](b) temperature [Temp] (Celcius)(c) relative humidity [RH] (%)(d) wind direction [WDIR] (degrees)(e) wind speed [Wspeed] (kt)(f) rainfall [RR] (mm/3hours)(g) sea level atmospheric pressure [SLP] (hPa) For each area two TXT forecast files are provided per 3 hours, one for running at 00:00 UTC and one for running at 12:00 UTC. The file name is in the form of Point_Values_[AREA].txt.
