The dataset contains abstraction areas outside areas with special drinking water interests (OSD) in accordance with the Soil Pollution Act. Abstraction areas outside the OSD under the Soil Pollution Act are delimited in order to ensure the regions’ prioritisation of the public clean-up efforts within abstraction areas for general waterworks and OSD.
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency delimits abstraction areas to general waterworks. This is done by establishing hydrological models in which all hydrological parameters are taken as a starting point. When the region establishes a deterrent pump that affects an abstraction catchment to a general waterworks, the prevention pumping will be included in the model. During a model drive, the remediation drilling forms its own abstraction catchment area. The abyss drilling will no longer be contained in the abstraction area for the general waterworks. In the deterrent drilling is no longer contained in an abstraction catchment area, the area is no longer part of the action areas resulting from Section 6 of the Soil Pollution Act. When the pumping is thereby stopped, the catchment area will once again encircle the pollution, and the total abstraction catchment area is once again part of a public area of action.
This issue has led to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency having decided to record so-called abstraction areas outside the OSD in accordance with the Soil Pollution Act, with the aim of ensuring the regions’ ability to maintain prevention pumps as part of the public efforts within abstraction areas for general waterworks outside the OSD. The abstraction catchment area under the Soil Pollution Act is recorded as the amount of association of the abstraction catchment area affected and not affected by remediation pumps.
