GeoDanmark

GeoDanmark contains information about buildings, roads, streams, lakes and forests. Data provides a nationwide common public geographical administrative basis for case handling, planning, compilation with other data and visual presentations of Denmark’s geography. GeoDanmark is the framework for cooperation between all the municipalities in the country and the Danish Agency for Data Supply and Efficiency (SDFE) to establish and maintain a precise, current, homogeneous and nationwide common public geographical management basis. GeoDanmark helps decision-makers and case handlers in the public sector to create a better knowledge-based and uniform public administration for the benefit of both citizens and businesses. In particular, building case processing, road management, river management and property tax assessment make use of this dataset. GeoDanmark includes spatial information about 70 object types divided into the following categories: buildings, settlements, traffic, engineering, nature, hydro, topography, various and adaptation layers for Denmark’s height model. In addition, data form the basis for a wide range of derived products in the form of different background maps: The screen card, the natural and outdoor map, the management service and topographical maps. Background maps are prepared by selecting relevant information that is visually presented in colours, signatures and target conditions targeting a specific application. Current data (points, lines and surfaces) from GeoDanmark are free basic data and are available to both public and private users via web services and download. There is access to two WFS webservices one with history and one without history. The WMS web service contains the latest GeoDanmark data. The web service targets municipalities and SDFE’s quality control that their corrections in the GeoDanmark database come out via the Data Distributor. It is possible to select each individual GeoDanmark object type independently of zoom level. The grouping of objects used and their visualisation is similar to that used in the management service. The WMS web service is generated individually on any request, so that the content is always up to date with the underlying database.
