The Danish Maritime Authority, in cooperation with the Danish Transport Authority in Sweden and the navigational map authorities, has drawn up a vessel-routing scheme (TSS — Traffic Separation Scheme) for the Skagerrak and Kattegat, which intends to direct maritime traffic along routes that guide and separate opposite shipping traffic better than is currently the case, thus making it more predictable. The route system has been adopted by the IMO and will enter into force on 1 July 2020, at the same time as new charts are issued with the new route system.
