Nitrate classes are used in the IT application system “husdyrattest.dk” as guidance in connection with the regulation of livestock farming under the Livestock Approval Act and is identified on the basis of two factors:
· Nitrogen reduction potential
· Catchments to vulnerable and highly vulnerable Natura 2000 areas*.
— Nitrate class III: Land for highly nitrogen-vulnerable areas with an N reduction potential of 0-50 %.
— Nitrate class II: Land for highly nitrogen-vulnerable areas with an N reduction potential of 51-75 %.
— Nitrate Class I: Catchment areas for vulnerable nitrogen areas with a N reduction potential of 0-50 %
— Outside the nitrate class: Land for nitrogen-vulnerable areas with a reduction potential of 51-100 %, and highly nitrogen-vulnerable areas with a N reduction potential of 76-100 % and other catchments to areas that are not nitrogen-vulnerable
