Dataset description

The theme shows fishing with non-bottomed gears within the Natura 2000 areas. Fishing with non-bottom catching gears has been calculated for pelagic trawls including purse seine fishing in the period 2013-2018. The fishing is shown on the map with VMS data. VMS data are shown less frequently on the map than AIS data, as these only have to be sent once per hour from vessels above 12 metres. The points shown are for a given speed of the vessel where it is assumed that fishing can take place. Filename: np3basis2020_vms_pelagic
