The soil map (JB map) was prepared for the Danish Agricultural Agency in 2014 by DCA (National Centre for Food and Agriculture) at Aarhus University. The JB card replaces the previous land classification maps. The JB card is derived from new nationwide 3D texture maps that show the texture of the soil throughout the root zone. The new JB map has been prepared using statistical methods (regression warfare) using all available point observations of the Earth’s texture (about 55,000 points) as well as a number of environmental data, such as the Earth species map, the landscape element map and Denmark’s altitude model. The new JB map consists of 11 soil classes and covers the whole of Denmark, including forests and cities.
