The Environment Directorate-General decided to commission a public opinion survey to measure the opinions, attitudes and behaviour of Europeans towards the environment. The survey was carried out in the 27 Member States of the European Union between the 13th November and 14th of December 2007.
The survey tackled the following broad themes:
• General attitudes towards the environment: first associations and main
concerns
• Personal relationship with the environment: attitudes and behaviour
• Opinions on environment policies: acceptability of sustainable development approaches, preferred policies, support for a European environment policy and the role of the EU as its executor
• Information on the environment: feeling of being informed, topics for which there is a lack of information, sources of information

* Volume AA' (AAP): Trends of groups of countries
* Volume B: EU/socio-demographics
