RADD compiles information on releases into the environment of radioactive substances in airborne and liquid effluents from Nuclear Power Stations (with a capacity greater than 50 MWe) as well as from Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing Sites.
In order to provide a useful time span the database contains information from 1995 onwards. For new Member States, information is present starting from the respective accession years: 2004 or 2007.
In 2004 the European Commission issued [Recommendation 2004/2/Euratom] (http://data.europa.eu/eli/reco/2004/2/oj), providing guidance to Member States on the reporting of discharges of radioactive nuclides. In its design RADD reflects the scope of this Recommendation and presents the data accordingly.
RADD provides two interrogation modules: an overview module and a query builder module.
The former not only allows to display information on radioactive discharge data (detailed or summarised) and on nuclear sites, but also to download standard reports in pdf format.
The latter is a fully-fledged interrogation tool.
