European programmes provide the basis for the publication of health indicators, which are sets of data (tables, graphs, maps) on health status, determinants and care in EU member countries. They allow for monitoring and comparison, and serve as a basis for policymaking. Publicly available data is collected or provided by Eurostat, however many indicators are compiled relying also on other sources, such as WHO, OECD, specific programmes and specialised databases. The ECHI Data Tool which presents European health indicators has been upgraded in November 2015.
