The GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Receiver for Atmospheric Sounding (GRAS) probes the vertical profile of the atmosphere by observing GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) in a limb sounding geometry. GRAS observes rising and setting occultations in velocity and anti-velocity direction, providing a minimum of 500 profiles per day with high vertical resolution. The GRAS GDS Level 1B product contains profiles of bending angle over impact parameter. Level 2 products providing refractivity profiles over altitude, covering the stratosphere and troposphere are available from EUMETSAT ROM SAF. Such products can be further processed to derive temperature or humidity profiles.
