Activation reason:
The CEMS Risk and Recovery Standard (RRM STD) has been activated to support the risk assessment analysis related to the effusive eruption of the La Soufriere volcano, in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, that started on 27th December 2020 and that ended up into an explosive eruption on 9th April 2021.The CEMS RRM STD has been triggered during the effusive phase of the volcano activity to provide a highly detailed post-event DSM to be possibly used to simulate the lava flow pathways, analysing the risk and supporting the emergency management. Nevertheless, given the newer eruption happened during production, on 9 April 2021, this product cannot be used for that scope anymore, but only to represent the surface of the volcano as of 03 March 2021.A post-event P01.2-DSM has been generated by exploiting two COSMO-SkyMed HI acquisitions, and the radargrammetric technique. The final spatial resolution is 15 m, with a vertical geometric accuracy equal to about 13 m (CE90) and a horizontal accuracy equal to about 10 m (RMSE). Figure1. P01.2 DSM (based on VHR radar data) generated from two radargrammetric COSMO-SkyMed HI images. Figure2. COSMO-SkyMed HI image of St. Vincent Island (top), and detail of La Soufriere volcano (bottom). The image has been orthorectified by using the P01.2 DSM product.
