La Soufriere volcano, situated on the main island of St. Vincent and the Grenandines, began erupting effusively at the end of December 2020. On 9 April 2021 an explosive eruption occurred, forming a plum of volcanic ash, which reached 8 km height. Ash fall has been recorded at the Argyle International Airport. An evacuation order has been issued to all residents (16,000) living in the red zones (NE and NW of the island).<br/>
