Specific data collection and process modelling were performed in accordance with ISO 14040 and 14044 series. All process data were provided by TiO2 producers for 33 titanium dioxide production sites located in 21 countries operated by 9 companies. The data were then aggregated by individual inventory item. The overall quality, DQR, of the data set provided by these TiO2 producers was calculated to be 1.33 ie excellent quality. The resulting LCI calculation is based on the titanium dioxide production process route for both sulphate and chloride production technology. Upstream data are based on secondary data documented in Annex C, TDMA (2014), Method Document for the Provision of a Cradle to Gate Life Cycle Inventory for the Manufacture of Titanium Dioxide (TiO2). An impact assessment and contribution analysis using ILCD 2011 Midpoint method released by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre in 2012 has been performed to appraise the overall data quality of the life cycle inventory developed and found that over 70% of impact contribution is from data that are rated as ≤2.8 ie “Good quality. The dataset was modelled in SimaPro software. For further information refer to http://www.tdma.info/fileadmin/pdf/substainability/4._TDMA_Life_Cycle_Inventory_for_Titanium_Dioxide_Production.pdf
