<br/> Activation time (UTC): 2021-07-05 06:49:00<br/> Event time (UTC): 2021-07-03 11:13:00<br/> Event type: Wildfire (Forest fire)<br/> <br/> Activation reason: <br/> A big wildfire is raging from 3rd July morning in the island of Kephalonia. Large forests and rural areas were burnt down and several villages as Keparandriti, Agia Eirini, Markopoulo, Kremmidi, Pasta and Kolaitiwere were evacuated. According to Fire Service, 116 firefighters with 32 vehicles are operating in the area, with the assistance of ground forces and helicopters, even though the strong wind made firefighters' work extremely difficult. It was declared by the head of Fire Brigades that nobody was injured or harmed. On the 4th July, the situation was better as winds have weakend. The Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping Service products will be used by fire service during firefighting operations and by local authorities for recovery and restoration planning of the affected area. <br/> <br/> Reference products: 0<br/> Delineation products: 0<br/> Grading products: 1<br/> <br/> Copernicus Emergency Management Service - Mapping is a service funded by European Commission aimed at providing actors in the management of natural and man-made disasters, in particular Civil Protection Authorities and Humanitarian Aid actors, with mapping products based on satellite imagery.<br/>
