The Atlas of the Submersible Areas (AZS) of Corsica identifies coastal spaces potentially exposed to marine submersion phenomena due to their low aoltimetric coastline. These spaces are referred to as “low” areas. The AZS was realised by CEREMA in 2014, is the property of DREAL and was distributed by the DDTM of Southern Corsica to the mayors of the department on 6/05/2015 to take into account in planning and planning decisions on the basis of Article R.111-2 of the Urban Planning Code.
This atlas is part of a gloabale approach to managing marine submersion risk, and is a first step in knowledge of hazard. The data from this atlas may subsequently be supplemented by complementary hazard studies and the implementation of the Coastal Risk Prevention Plan (PPRL). The reference hazard is located at 2 m NGF and the horizon 2100 is 2.4 m NGF.
It comprises 3 zones:
— Ground red — z < 1 m NGF — areas more than 1 m below the reference level
— Red — 1 < z < 2 m NGF — areas less than 1 m below marine reference level
— Yellow — 2 < z < 2.4 m NGF — areas between the marine reference level and the sea level horizon 2100.
