Dataset description

This is the data representing the vine parcels recognised as contaminated with black wood disease in 2020. Black wood disease is one of the many forms of jaundice of the vine, the best known being the golden flavescence, a common disease in Europe. Like the latter, the black wood of the vine is caused by an infectious agent (phytoplasm) present in the sap and exhibits identical symptoms that can only be differentiated by molecular diagnosis. Indeed, absolutely no difference can be observed in the symptoms between these two diseases. The insect vector of Black Wood is a fulgore cixiide, called Hyalesthes obsoletus. There is no chemical treatment against phytoplasms. The only recommended measure is preventive and consists of removing the host plants from the disease.
