The identification of sports facilities, spaces and practice sites (RES) covers, with the stated objective of completeness, all equipment, whether in service, public or private, open to the public free of charge or paid. The essential criterion is that everyone can access it (individually or through a public or private [associative or commercial] structure), free of charge or paid, with the main objective of physical and/or sporting activity. The census establishes 30 large families of sports equipment in 160 types.
Sports equipment is an area allowing, on its own, the practice of one or more physical and/or sporting activities. It contains a minimum of specific materials enabling compliance with the principles and rules related to their practice (e.g. a legible track on the floor and cages for a handball field,...). A classification of nearly 160 types was retained for the census.
(Sport facility is a place characterised by an address, where one or more sports facilities are located)
In the case of single equipment, the usual names of the installation and equipment may be identical and/or correspond to a classification of sports equipment (Ex:Salle multisports). The geography of the census is those in effect as of January 1, 2013.
