The noise exposure plan (PEB) aims to prevent and limit the exposure of the population to noise pollution associated with certain aerodromes. It is mandatory for aerodromes whose list is defined by the urban planning code.
On the basis of forecasts of the development of air activity, the foreseeable extension of infrastructure and air traffic procedures, the EPB defines areas that are diversely exposed to aircraft noise:
—areas A and B, known as strong noise zones,
—areas C, known as moderate noise zone
—and, where appropriate, areas D.
In the areas defined by the noise exposure plan:
the extension of urbanisation and the creation or extension of public facilities are prohibited when it leads to the immediate or long-term exposure of new populations to noise nuisances;
all authorised constructions are subject to sound insulation measures...
