Classification of all dams, whether hydroelectric or not, into 4 classes (Decree of 13 December 2007):
A for dams of 20 m height or more above the natural terrain;
B for dams not classified as A, exceeding 10 m and having a BMI value of 200 or more;
C for dams not classified as A or B, exceeding 5 m and having a BMI value of 20 or more;
D for other dams, not classified as A, B or C, of a height exceeding 2 m.
All classified dams (A, B, C and D) must have:
a flooding instruction;
an auscultation and surveillance instruction (CSA);
a suitable auscultation device.
They shall be subject to:
an annual report of the operator, including all relevant security facts;
a biennial analysis of the testing measures;
a systematic reporting of any significant hydraulic safety event (Eish).
