The purpose of the Appropriate Potential Flood Envelope (EAIP) is to be able to calculate indicators of impact on the potential hold of extreme events. It is therefore first necessary to approach the outline of these events by first mobilising the immediately available information (atlas, PPR hazard maps, etc.), and by supplementing it if necessary with further studies.
The river EAIP (EAIPce) has been developed throughout the national territory for flooding by river overflows, including overflows of small fast-reaction rivers (dry thalwegs), intermittent stream floods and mountain torrent floods (from a watershed area of a few km²).
ATTENTION
This mapping, finalised in 2011 by DREAL and CETE under the Flood Directive, represents the potential hold of extreme events. With a relatively high level of uncertainty, this data should be considered with caution and used specifically as an indicator.
