Environmental monitoring (also known as environmental monitoring) is a process of observing the state of the environment covering one or more compartments such as ambient air and dust deposition, surface water, plants, soils and wildlife.
This observation is based on a measuring device positioned in space at one or more sampling points in order to collect data using comparable detection methods.
The primary objective of the environmental monitoring set up around the Classified Environmental Protection Facilities (CPE) is to determine whether the activity of the facility degrades or has degraded the environment in relation to a reference state.
It serves both to ensure that:
• effective control of the installation’s emissions;
• the absence of worrying degradation of the environment.
The inventory of facilities subject to this type of environmental monitoring, carried out for the first time in the Grand East region, identified 87 establishments. The main sectors of activity concerned are waste treatment, steel-metallurgy and the chemical and mineral industry.
Explanation of attributes:
• CODE_S3IC: Unique number to identify the installation
• NOM_SITE: Identity of the installation
• NOM_COM: Municipality where the facility is located
• X_L93: Geographical coordinate of the facility (reference Lambert 93)
• Y_L93: Geographical coordinate of the facility (reference Lambert 93)
• PRECI_GEOM: Accuracy of geographical coordinates
• SECT_ACTIV: The facilities were divided into 8 major sectors of activity subject to similar national or European regulatory frameworks
• REF_REGLEM: Reference of the prefectural decree specific to the installation requiring the setting up of environmental monitoring
• TYPE_SURV: Type of monitoring: corresponds to the environmental compartment to which monitoring is carried out and in which sampling is carried out
