Areas exposed to noise levels above 55 dB(A) along roads with annual traffic exceeding 3 million vehicles.
These areas are bounded by isophone curves calculated according to the Lden indicator, with a step of 5 in 5 dB(A), for the drawing up of strategic noise maps along the road infrastructure of Haute-Savoie.
Lden is an indicator of the overall noise level during a day (day, evening and night) used to describe the discomfort associated with exposure to noise. It is calculated from the indicators “Lday”, “Levening”, “Lnight”, averaged sound levels over the periods 6h-18h, 18h-22h and 22h-6h.
In addition, a weight of + 5 dB(A) is applied to the evening period and + 10 dB(A) to the night period, to take account of the fact that we are more sensitive to noise during these periods.
