Dataset description
In accordance with the transposition of the European Directive 2002/49/EC on the assessment and management of environmental noise (Articles L572-1 to L572-11 and R572-1 to R572-11 of the Environmental Code), noise maps must be drawn up for large railway infrastructure with more than 30,000 train crossings per year before 30 June 2012.
The rail network to be mapped consists of lines with traffic exceeding 30,000 train crossings per year, i.e. an average daily traffic exceeding 82 train crossings per day.
The identification of the railways concerned was carried out using traffic data provided by Réseau Ferré de France (RFF), via the Lyon CETE, in January 2012.
