The Protected Agricultural Area (PAZ) is a public utility easement (SUP) that preserves the agricultural vocation of areas of general interest by:
— the quality of their production, or
— their geographical location, or
either their agronomic quality.
The ZAPs are delimited by prefectural decree:
— on a proposal or after agreement of the municipal council of the municipalities concerned
— or, where appropriate, and after consulting the municipal council of the municipalities concerned, on a proposal from the deliberative body of the public establishment responsible for local planning (PLU, PLUi) or territorial coherence scheme (SCoT).
