The sites listed in the site inventory are of general interest from an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque point of view. A registered site may be natural or built.The listing of a site in the inventory takes place at the initiative of the State or the departmental commission of sites, perspectives and landscapes. Classified sites are natural monuments and sites whose conservation or preservation presents, from an artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque point of view, a general interest. Site protection concerns only the landscape of the territory concerned and has no effect on the management of fauna and flora.A classified site may not be modified in its state or appearance without special, prefectural or ministerial authorisation.Art. L 341-2 et seq. of the Environmental Code (former Law of 2 May 1930). The generator of a public utility easement is a geographical entity whose nature or function induces, by regulation, constraints on the way the land is occupied on the surrounding land.The disappearance or destruction on the site of the generator does not result in the removal of the easement(s) associated with it. Only a new act of annulment or repeal by the competent authority may legally remove the effects of the easement(s) in question.
