Strategic noise maps are zoning based on the Lden (Level day evening night) index that delineates perimeters within which:
— restrictions on urban planning,
— sound insulation requirements for authorised constructions.
These areas of exposure to noise are materialised on a map in 1/25000 graphic document that complements the presentation report of the Noise Exposure Plan or PEB.
The EPB is an urban planning document setting out the conditions of land use exposed to aircraft noise nuisances. The aim of the EPB is to prohibit or limit constructions in order not to increase the populations subject to nuisances.
It anticipates the development of aviation activity, the expansion of infrastructure and the evolution of air traffic procedures by 15/20 years.
The significance of exposure to noise is indicated by the letters A, B, C, or D.
— Zone A: Very high noise exposure
— Zone B: Exposure to strong noise
— Zone C: Exposure to moderate noise
— Area D: Low noise exposure (only for some aerodromes)
