These layers are derived from the synthesis of knowledge, carried out in 2003, as part of the strategic directions for the LR coastline.
These cut-offs allow for a description and analysis of the functioning of the sedimentary movements of the shoreline over a given area at a given time.
The sedimentary cell is a portion of the shoreline with a relatively independent sedimentary function relative to the adjacent portions. Its limits are either maritime works or natural obstacles (caps, mouths, etc.) which block or alter the movement of sand under the action of houles (coastal drift).
The microcell is a subset of the cell that has as its limits structures or natural elements impacting shoreline drift less strongly than cell boundaries.
The area corresponds to a set of cells limited by elements completely interrupting the coastal drift.
Other cell cuttings exist according to the studies, depending on the period or scale of observation.
