Dataset description

A site characterisation study was conducted by the Shom on the Dunkirk EMR study area in 2016 and 2017. In the context of the “sedimentology” part of this study, different data were collected: sediment sampling, turbidity measurements, seismic data from sediment probes, SMF imaging... — Sedimentary sampling/Granulometry: 39 samples made at the Van Veen dumpster in 2016 and 2017 (taking samples, measuring granularity by sieving on a mesh sieve column, measuring the calcium carbonate level using a classical Bernard, calculating the particle size parameters). November 2017. — Turbidity: monitoring of turbidity achieved through two anchorages (benthic stations equipped with optical turbidimeters). Analysis of background turbidity time series: time series acquired from 1/09/2016 to 23/09/2016 for anchorage n°1 and from 6/09/2016 to 9/10/2016 for anchorage n°2 — Seismic: seismic profiles acquired from the sediment probe (THR data). Large volumetric.XTF files (builder format) which may be accessible on request. Accessible data: — Sedimentary sampling/Granulometry: EMRDunkerqueGRANULOMETRIE_Synthese.xls. Content: Sample no, immersion, Lat, Long, MGS, sorting, skew, Grain Medium mm, porosity, density, speed, Folk, Study, Shom, CaCO3, Cailloux, Graves, Graves, Sand, Fin, Vase, Roughness, SSC, Code Add, Cailloux, Gravel, Small Gravel, Gravel Sand, Medium Sand, Fine Sand, Very Fine Sand, silts, Argile + distribution camemberts by class of ganularity — Turbidity: EMRDunkerqueTURBIDITE_Synthese.xls. Content: Date/time, turbididity level (NTU) Horizontal references: WGS84 assimilated to the RGF93 geodetic system (65 cm difference between the two systems, taken into account in the theoretical error balance); projection Lambert93 Vertical references: ZH in Dunkirk for probes, the vertical reference of altitudes is the zero of the 1969 NGF-IGN system.
