Afin de préserver le Muscardin, petit rongeur protégé de la famille des Gliridés (loirs), il convient de conserver ses milieux de vie et de déplacement. Pour ce faire, ces espaces ont été identifiés, au sein de l'aire de répartition régionale de l'espèce, par l'analyse (modélisation spatiale des distributions) des observations collectées par le Groupe Mammalogique Breton depuis 2008. La couche d’information géographique « Espaces indispensables au Muscardin en Bretagne » matérialise ainsi les zones de présence et habitats préférentiels du Muscardin en Bretagne et Loire-Atlantique.
