A la disposition des départements, les espaces naturels sensibles (ENS) sont un outil de protection des espaces dont le caractère naturel est menacé et rendu vulnérable, actuellement ou potentiellement. Les ENS ont pour objectifs de : - préserver la qualité des sites, des paysages, des milieux naturels et des champs d'expansion des crues ; - d'assurer la sauvegarde des habitats naturels ; - d'aménager ces espaces pour être ouverts au public, sauf exception justifiée par la fragilité du milieu naturel.
