Dataset description

Areas, in forests covered by the forest regime, voluntarily classified by the National Forestry Office as biological reserves. These biological reserves are of two kinds: integral Biological Reserves (IBRs) and Directed Biological Reserves (RBDs). In Integral Biological Reserves (RBI), any human intervention likely to alter the environment is prohibited: the aim of these reserves, true “large nature” laboratories, is to study the natural evolution of the forest ecosystem and its associated biodiversity. In Directed Biological Reserves (RBDs), management is oriented towards the protection of species or habitats with high heritage value.
