This study identifies and maps invasive plant species on the Guiana coastline in 2013.
Carried out by botanist experts G.Léotard and O.Chaline, the study targets the six proven invasive species (Acacia mangium, Melaleuca quinquenervia, Leucaena leucocephala, Brachiaria umbellata, Panicum maximum, Pueraria phaseoloides) as well as three other species whose invasive potentials are highly suspected in Guyana (Urochloa humidicola, Acacia crassicarpa, Terminalia catappa). In addition to these nine species, occurrences of any other alien species identified in natural or semi-natural environments in the study area (early detection — outside gardens and parks in urban areas) were recorded and mapped.
The location of the observations is composed of 3 complementary layers: a layer of point objects, a layer of linear objects and a layer of surface objects. This layer is that of punctual objects.
