Dataset description

The base of a servitude is the space field (i.e., the geographical area) within which the servitude applies. Is considered to be located in the field of visibility of a building classified or proposed for classification any other building, bare or built, visible to the first or visible at the same time and situated within a perimeter not exceeding 500 metres. Exceptionally, this perimeter can be extended to more than 500 meters. A decree in the Council of State, adopted after consulting the Higher Commission of Historic Monuments, will determine the monuments to which this extension applies and define the perimeter of protection specific to each of them. When drawing up or revising a local urban planning plan, the 500-metre perimeter may, on a proposal from the architect of the Bâtiments de France and after agreement of the municipality, be amended to designate sets of buildings and spaces that participate in the monument’s environment in order to preserve its character or contribute to improving its quality. The perimeter is subject to public inquiry in conjunction with the local urban planning plan. It is annexed to the local urban planning plan under the conditions laid down in Article L. 126-1 of the Urban Planning Code.
