INSEE zonages representing urban spaces composed of urban areas and related multipolarised municipalities.
This definition is no longer in force in the new urban zoning (October 2011).
An urban space is a set of one-size-fits-all urban areas and multipolarised municipalities attached to it. In multipolar urban space, urban areas are either contiguous or connected by multipolarised municipalities. This space forms a related set. An urban space consisting of a single urban area is said to be monopoly.
