New-Aquitaine: Mountain Law — Communes (surfacing)

Mountain area under the Law of 9 January 1985 known as the “Mountain Law” as amended by Act No. 2005-157 of 23 February 2005 on the development of rural territories. Article 3 of the Act: mountain areas are characterised by significant handicaps resulting in more difficult living conditions and restricting the exercise of certain economic activities. They include municipalities or parts of municipalities characterised by a considerable limitation of land use possibilities and a significant increase in the costs of works due to: — the existence, due to altitude, of very difficult climatic conditions, — the presence, at a lower altitude, of steep slopes, — either the combination of these two factors.
