WFS Service — The concept of “big site” originates from public policy designed more than thirty years ago (1976) by the state in some of the most famous and busiest sites. The aim was to restore the qualities that had made the place famous, and to welcome the many visitors while preserving the integrity and beauty of the site.
Communities and the state have gradually joined forces through genuine partnerships, and the policy for major sites has evolved to become a policy for the preservation and sustainable management of these particular territories, which in common are remarkable territories:
— for their landscape, natural and cultural dimensions
— to be classified under the 1930 Act for a significant part of their territory,
— to welcome a large public whose presence threatens the heritage quality of the territory,
— to be the subject of a local consensus to take an ambitious approach to the service of the site.
