Service WFS — This dataset contains the specific objects of projects subject to environmental assessment (excluding “case-by-case review” procedures), from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
Environmental assessment procedures aim to ensure that foreseeable environmental impacts are anticipated in order to avoid or reduce them, in a preventive approach to environmental damage. European and national legislation provides for operations likely to affect the environment to be subject to a specific authorisation process ensuring:
— a guarantee of taking into account the environmental sensitivities and challenges considered in an extensive design (biodiversity, climate, natural resources, natural and technological risks, pollution and nuisances, health risks, etc.);
— a guarantee of good information to the public from the early stages of the projects, based on the European principle of necessary public participation in the choices which may affect the environment.
Holders of public and private projects are required to produce environmental reports or impact assessments that reflect how they have taken the environment into account in their project or plan or programme design approach.
That assessment shall be subject to the opinion, made public, of an environmental authority.
It should be noted that national texts fall under the Environmental Code and the Urban Planning Code.
